Start a St. Petersburg projectSt. Petersburg has built its tech identity around the Innovation District, the Edge District, and an unusual mix of traditional industries reinventing themselves with software. The companies we work with here are often closer to operational than to venture-funded — defense contractors modernizing internal tools, marine technology firms building data platforms, healthcare-adjacent businesses replacing legacy systems. They need real software that works, not pitch decks.
BlueScripts is a boutique software studio based across the bay in Clearwater. We work with St. Pete companies as nearby neighbors — close enough for in-person kickoffs and milestones, with the day-to-day work happening remotely the way modern engineering actually gets done. The same senior engineers who design your system will write the code, ship it, and stay on call.
If you have a business in St. Petersburg or the surrounding Pinellas County and you need a software partner who treats your codebase like infrastructure rather than billable hours, we should talk.
Built for St. Petersburg
We work with St. Pete clients across the Innovation District, Edge District, downtown waterfront, and the wider Pinellas County metro. The St. Pete companies we partner with often have a narrower, deeper buyer profile than the typical Tampa SaaS startup — defense, marine, healthcare, finance — which means the software needs are more about correctness, durability, and integration than about chasing rapid iteration. We are well-suited to that kind of work. Our products SysWard (security/IT operations), Threat.gg (cybersecurity), and BarkScan (network intelligence) all serve buyers with similar profiles, so the engineering patterns translate.

Common questions
St. Petersburg-specific FAQ
Do you have an office in St. Petersburg? +
No — we are based in Clearwater. We are a 30-minute drive from downtown St. Pete, which makes onsite kickoffs and key milestones easy. Day-to-day work is remote; the boutique scale of our team does not justify maintaining offices in multiple cities.
Do you work with St. Pete defense and government contractors? +
Selectively. We can build commercial software for defense-adjacent companies. For work requiring security clearance or DFARS/CMMC compliance, we are not currently certified and would refer you to a St. Pete firm that is.
Are you part of the St. Pete Innovation District or Edge District? +
We work with companies in both. We are not formally affiliated with either district's programs but we follow the local ecosystem closely and have done work for companies headquartered in those areas.
What about marine technology and maritime industries in St. Pete? +
We have not worked specifically in marine tech yet, but our experience building platform software (BarkScan handles internet-wide scanning, MakerCogs handles industrial manufacturing workflows) translates well to similar problem domains. We will tell you honestly if a project requires domain expertise we do not have.
How does engagement work for St. Pete clients? +
Identical to any other client: paid two-week discovery with a written technical plan, then a weekly retainer or fixed-scope build phase, with a post-launch maintenance retainer if you want it. Onsite meetings happen in St. Pete; everything else is remote.
What size St. Pete companies are a good fit? +
SMBs with established revenue, founders building their first SaaS, and engineering teams at growth-stage companies that need senior contract capacity. We are not optimized for pre-revenue startups looking for a discount or for enterprise procurement processes.
